Welcome to the Gendros Primary School Parents & Guardians Association (PGA) Web Page!

We are very fortunate at our school to have a PGA that is (and has) been such an integratal part of the school community for many years. In its time, the PGA has raised thousands of pounds, which has all been used to enhance the standard of education for the children at Gendros. All parents / guardians and members of the school community can get involved if they want to, even if they only have a small amount of time available - anything helps! Furthermore, all parents are automatically members of the Association when their children join the school.

We have, over time, developed strong community links and are always well supported by both residents and businesses, for which we are very grateful. Many of the surrounding local businesses are very generous in their donations of raffle prizes (for example). Furthermore, some have taken part in our Christmas and Summer Fairs. Our committee meets regularly to arrange fundraising events - we also have a number of parents which do not attend our meetings but can always be counted on to support us at school events and for this assistance we are very grateful.

If you feel you could help us in anyway, please contact us!

How we Raise Money

Like most PTAs (in other schools), the majority of our funds are raised through our events. Some of our more popular events include Christmas & Summer Fairs and Discos. We also hold an annual Christmas shopping trip and gift sales for Mothers' Day & Fathers' Day. We may be knowledgeable, but we are always grateful for any suggestions / ideas for fundraising methods.

How we let you know what's happening

We have numerous ways in which we communicate to parents - by standard, newsletters will be issued to all parents (as appropriate) which will include information on forthcoming events and dates. Furthermore, we will also request assistance on the larger events. Alternative methods will be through the school website, on facebook and twitter as well.

How can you get involved?

There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the PGA.

Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is invaluable - for us, to coin an old phrase - "many hands make light work". It doesn't matter if you can't help on a regular basis, or even if you can't come to school. There are always little jobs that can be done from home - even if you only have half an hour to spare, we really couldn't achieve what we do without the help we receive from within the school community.

Furthermore, you can (if you want), volunteer to become a Committee Member. You can help us by letting us know if you have any contacts or skills we could use - everything is valuable to us.

Thank you ever so much for taking the time to learn about us. We hope you now know a little more about your Parent / Guardians Association. Furthermore, on behalf of the children we would like to thank you for your very valuable support which enriches their learning experiences and makes their time in school so enjoyable.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch with us, or ask via your class teacher / school office.
