Our Curriculum

At Gendros Primary School, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, develop confidence and help every learner Believe it, Achieve it. Rooted in the Curriculum for Wales and its four purposes, we provide a broad, balanced and inclusive range of learning experiences that develop knowledge, skills, creativity, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum is designed around the needs, interests and experiences of our learners, with opportunities to make meaningful connections between learning and the world around them. We place a strong emphasis on developing literacy, numeracy, digital competence, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and personal effectiveness, alongside the knowledge and skills within the six Areas of Learning and Experience.

Our Curriculum for Wales Summary provides an overview of our approach to teaching, learning, progression and assessment, and the experiences we aim to provide for every child.

Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)

At Gendros Primary School, we want our children to grow into happy, healthy, confident and respectful individuals who understand themselves and their relationships with others.

Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) is an important part of the Curriculum for Wales and is taught in a way that is appropriate to children’s age, development and individual needs. Our approach focuses on developing healthy relationships, respect, personal safety, understanding emotions, boundaries and the importance of seeking help when needed.

We have created this Gendros-specific video for parents and carers to explain our approach to RSE, what we intend to teach and how we will support our children throughout their learning journey.

We hope the video provides you with a clear understanding of our approach and helps you feel informed and confident about how RSE is taught at Gendros Primary School.
