Our website offers an introduction to our school, our values and the wide range of opportunities and experiences we provide to help every child thrive, learn and reach their full potential.

At Gendros Primary School, we are proud of the strong relationships we have developed with our families and the wider community. We are a welcoming, inclusive and diverse school where every child is valued as an individual. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which children feel confident, supported and ready to learn.

Our curriculum is shaped by Curriculum for Wales, with the four purposes at its heart. We want our learners to become ambitious, capable learners; enterprising, creative contributors; ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world; and healthy, confident individuals.

Through our curriculum, children experience a broad range of learning across the six Areas of Learning and Experience: Languages, Literacy and Communication; Mathematics and Numeracy; Science and Technology; Humanities; Health and Well-being; and Expressive Arts. We provide opportunities for children to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding, make connections across their learning and apply what they learn to real-life situations. Literacy, numeracy and digital competence are developed across the curriculum, alongside creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and independence.

We place a strong emphasis on the well-being and progress of every learner. We want children to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a positive sense of self, while learning to build respectful relationships and understand and appreciate the diverse world in which they live.

We recognise that parents and carers are essential partners in their child’s education. By working together, we can help children make the most of their time at Gendros Primary School. There are many ways you can support your child:

• Talk positively about school and take an interest in what your child is learning and experiencing.
• Keep us informed of any changes or circumstances that may affect your child’s well-being, learning or development.
• Work with us to support your child’s attendance, learning and well-being.
• Please speak to us if you have a concern or something you would like to discuss. We are always happy to listen, work with you and, where appropriate, arrange a convenient time to meet with your child’s class teacher.
• Where possible, become involved in school life. We greatly value the contribution that parents, carers, grandparents and members of our wider community make to our school.

Our aim is for every child to feel that they belong, that their voice matters and that they are capable of achieving their very best. We will work alongside you to support your child throughout their primary education, helping them to develop the knowledge, skills, confidence and positive attitudes they need for the next stage of their journey.
